The site is located within the city's fabric and overlooks the Dikteon Mountain. The main challenge was the increased building program as well as the avoidance of an immoderate complex. -How can a new 4000m2 town hall Megaron remain valid and symbolically charged? In the etymological dictionary of Ancient Greek, we read: "Megaron", the mega room, hall, as well as "megara", chthonious spaces, "sanctuaries of Demeter and Persephone during the celebrations of the Thesmophoria. The proposal for the new Megaron shifts from the more recent, palatial meaning of the word which leads to the construction of municipal palaces. The axe, a symbol of the Municipality, is a double, two-colored, wiggler. The double etymology is approached in a corresponding double, contrasting, "sharp" way. "Megaron" as a mega "white room", a great hall, light colored and open, hall of the people and their council, a town hall. At the same time, as a dark, folding, chthonic twist, as land and countryside, interwoven with the municipal services. Crosswise to the diagonal folding, the main town hall is symmetrically hovering, austere, prismatic. The space of the Council is defined by the ellipsoidal column and the northern side of the prism, which acts as a beam. The proposal seeks a dual relationship between the program and its symbolism, the earth and the building, the inherent modernity of the Town Hall and the unquestionable antiquity of the Dikteon Mountain opposite to it. In the new Megaron, it is not the building itself that is on the spotlight. Neither the landscape. They are essentially opposed: 1 to 1.
