Architectural Competition 2nd Prize_Alexandras New Metro Station, Athens
ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION FOR THE REGENERATION OF THE PUBLIC SPACE AND THE WIDER AREA OF THE NEW ALEXANDRAS METRO STATION
Located on Alexandras Avenue, in close proximity to Pedion Areos, a distinctly linear space welcomes the new metro station. In direct connection with a major metropolitan artery, it simultaneously serves as one of the few green areas along the avenue. Its role is to harmonize the bustling traffic of both vehicles and pedestrians, providing a space for both transit and leisure. The proportions of the area, its adjacency to a significant public park, its positioning between the Neapoli and Gizi neighborhoods, and its perception by moving vehicles and pedestrians collectively imbue it with a particularly pivotal and dynamic character.
